These are yellow mustard seeds, with each seed measuring approx. 1-2 mm. Mustard seeds can be used to make prepared mustard, for pickling, or as a flavoring spice. They can be used whole or ground. The flavor comes out when you combine them with liquid. Often they are lightly toasted until they "pop," giving them a nutty flavor. Add liquid (vinegar, cider, water) and turmeric to ground seeds to make mustard spread. Toss whole seeds into meat or vegetable dishes, marinades, sauces, salads, or curry. Also referred to as white mustard seeds.
